Project updates

I’ve got several things on the needles, and at least one more project I desperately want to begin but I’m trying to hold back on.  My biggest focus right now is my Aeolian shawl… the photos don’t do justice to the colors, it’s much brighter than this.  The yarn is Unplanned Peacock’s silk merino lace in the color moss.

I have a more detailed picture here showing the individual motifs…

I made an elephant for mom to give to someone who just had a baby… the pattern is Elijah by Ysolda Teague.  I have a second one started in Patons Kroy Jacquards – a picture of the WIP is here

I’ve also started Pink Lemon Twist’s Wings of a Dream – a pattern inspired by Swan Lake.  I don’t have much to show yet, but I’m using Zephyr laceweight in a gorgeous ebony that I was given by a wonderful yarn swap partner.

Finally- my dragon…   also using Zephyr laceweight, this time in emerald.  It’s very possibly the hardest thing I have ever tried, but I LOVE it!

So I’ve got plenty to work on and really don’t need to use the pretty new yarn for a smaller shawlette….  I got my hands on some Lang Jawoll Magic in green… it’s gorgeous!  I want to play with it so bad…  but I’m going to try to finish Aeolian before I try anything else.

My first pattern!

Last night, I posted my first pattern for sale on Ravelry – Spring’s Beginning Scarf.  I made it using Unplanned Peacock’s Twisty Sock in the color Bluegrass.  Her yarns are just gorgeous- I really recommend them!   Here’s a picture of the full design:

I’m also working on a celtic knot shawl – I have it drawn, but I don’t have much knitted yet since I just finished the first draft and cast on last night.  Other projects on the needles right now are the Aeolian Shawl from Knitty, Heere Be Dragone from Aurora Alpacas and a Scottish Thistle doily.  I really need to start keeping up with more info here… I’m going to try!

Back to knitting…

I really need to get this blog back up and running. I just finished what may be my ultimate masterpiece. It is certainly one of the hardest patterns I have ever attempted- Fiddlesticks Knitting Peacock Feathers Shawl. I used Cascade’s Alpaca Lace in three colors- purple (1416), teal (1419) and blue (1422). I used one strand of each, then for the transition I ran two strands (one of each color) for three rows. The number of rows in each color varied. I used size 3 needles for most of the pattern, then halfway through the last round of green, my needle snapped (YIKES!) in the middle of a row. Not having another size 3 needle and not wanting to stop my progress, I switched to a size 4, which actually worked out well. You really can’t tell unless you really look. Anyway- here are all the pictures!
